5 Simple Techniques to Boost Your Productivity

Very popular with professionals, students and busy people, these five techniques do not take long to be implemented – you can start right away!

The technique of Pomodoro

This popular technique of improving productivity requires almost no preparation. All you need is a timer, which you probably have on your phone.

The basic concept is to divide your day into 25-minute blocks, with five-minute breaks between each block. These focused intervals are called "pomodoros".

Do you have a timer and some work to do? You have everything you need to try the Pomodoro technique.

After four or five blocks, take a longer break of 15 to 20 minutes. During your breaks, get up, walk, do some jumps, grab a snack, drink a little water, basically, move away from your workstation and "reboot" yourself.

The timer adds a sense of concentration, importance and urgency to your work. You will probably be less likely to check Facebook, reply to these messages, or stare through the window if a timer is running.

And when you divide your day into manageable parts, you do not feel overwhelmed, even if you have a lot to do. It's easy to focus on a task for 25 minutes when you know you can take a break quickly.

The two-minute rule

David Allen developed this method and covers it in his book, Do things. The goal is to first accomplish a series of quick and easy tasks, so you can check multiple items on your to-do list in no time. You then feel inspired to move on to the most difficult tasks on your list.

If you can do it in two minutes, do it now!

To begin, rewrite your to-do list for the day. Do not worry about the list of things in any particular order – just write down everything you need to do today.

Surround all the tasks you can accomplish in about two minutes and tackle them first. You will feel quite happy after you have removed all these things from your to-do list.

Take a break from exercise

We all know that exercise stimulates blood flow to the brain, increasing creativity and productivity. A study of 200 workers found that productivity increased by 21%. But we often feel too busy or too tired to exercise.

Exercise raises your mood and gives you a boost of energy so you can carry out your projects.

If you feel stuck or delay your day, it's time to take a break, get away from work and get your heart rate.

Head to the gym if you can or run around the block. Do a fast workout on Youtube. Even 10 pumps or jumping jacks can allow you to reset your equipment and give you the energy boost you need to accompany you all day.

Block digital distractions

The attraction of digital distractions surrounds us all day, every day. When you hit a wall, it's easy to jump on Facebook or scroll through Instagram, and say you're trying to find inspiration or take a "break."

You can not do anything with the constant appeal of social media, games and other distractions.

Choose tasks that appeal to you to start your job and stay on course.

The goal is to do something you want to do. Then, as you work on this task, you begin to be focused and productive. This ultimately helps you move on to the next task, which can prove more difficult and less fun.
