Acer today announced a pair of new laptops, the Aspire 5 and the Swift 3. Both are relatively thin, powered by AMD Ryzen 4000 processors and set at prices that won’t break the bank. The Aspire 5, which starts at $ 520, will be available in June. The Swift 3, which starts at $ 630, drops in April.
Starting with the more affordable Aspire 5, you get an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U Mobile processor and your choice of up to 24 GB of RAM and either an SSD (up to 1 TB) or a hard drive (up to 2 TB).
It sports a 15.6-inch 1080p screen and Radeon graphics.
The Swift 3 will cost more, but will provide more power for your money. An AMD Ryzen 7 4700U mobile processor powers this laptop, with 16 GB of RAM and your choice of an SSD of 512 GB maximum. It tips the scales at 2.6 pounds and sports a 14-inch 1080p screen.
Most of the time, the specifications are the same as the existing Intel-based Aspire 5 and Swift 3, but you get AMD processors instead. It’s a great option for anyone who prefers AMD over Intel.
