Amazon’s kid-friendly service for smart speakers and tablets has long been known as Amazon FreeTime. It’s not very descriptive, however, so Amazon is working on a new branding. Amazon FreeTime and FreeTime Unlimited will soon become Amazon Kids and Kids +. And older kids will also get new content.

The name rollout is just that, a new name that better describes what the service does. You’ll get the same free and paid tiers as before, and Amazon Kids and Kids + works on Alexa smart speakers, Fire tablets, and more.

But older kids are also getting new content, including a new homescreen on Fire tablets. Amazon designed the new home screen to bridge the gap between young children and adults and make the tablet look more “grown-up”.

Additionally, you can now enable ads for Amazon Kids devices. Until now, “Freetime” speakers and tablets were prohibited from advertising. Change is opt-in, however, you are still in control.

Finally, Amazon is adding hand-picked video titles for kids ages 6 to 12. In addition to videos, a new music option for Amazon Kids – IHeartRadio Family. As with previous unlimited offers, Amazon Kids is free for parents, and an Amazon Kids + membership starts at $ 2.99 per month. The changes will be rolled out over the next few months.
