Five No-Oven Party Appetizers That Aren’t Chips and Dip

Tokens and dips are a party, but sometimes they are not enough. This is not to say that we want to linger around a hot stove during the party. Learn how to create a five-star gourmet feast without oven.

Whether it's an engagement party or a holiday party, the occasion sometimes calls for a higher caliber food. Slow-cooker cocktail sausages and fresh potato chips will not be enough.

This does not mean that things have to be complicated. Beautiful sofas, like the ones you expect at a wedding on a silver tray, can be easy. We have put together a list of five entrances that are sufficiently decorated for the fanciest, but so simple that you do not need to light an oven. It's not better than that. Let's dive in.

Small peppers stuffed with goat cheese and herbs

Nowadays, baby peppers are in most grocery stores and we could not be happier. These peppers are the ideal container for goat cheese, although cream cheese is also suitable. Add some fresh herbs and these little guys will disappear faster than a slip in a heat wave.

Here's how we did it:

To make 16 stuffed pepper entrees, cut eight small peppers in half lengthwise. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup goat cheese, 1 tablespoon minced basil and 2 teaspoons honey. Stuff the peppers with the cheese mixture and serve!

Mediterranean crostini

Crostini are the ultimate food that sounds good, but get married fast. The most difficult part about them is the assembly, but we found that even small children can assemble them. Of course, you do not have to use Mediterranean-inspired toppings (as we list below). Use your favorite toasts to create an inspired snack.

Here's how we did it:

To make 24 crostini, cut a slice of the 24-1 / 2-inch slice into the store. Some stores sell sliced ​​bruschetta slices. Look for those that allow you to save even more time. Grill the rounds with the help of a nonstick skillet (or in a toaster oven if you wish). Grilling chopsticks will go fast, it's promised, but if that's too much for you, choose a salty cracker to serve it instead.

In a small bowl, mix together (1) a large mashed avocado, (1) a seeded and diced cucumber, a 1/2 pint of chopped tomatoes and 1/3 cup of Feta cheese , with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the mixture over the rounds and serve with a drizzle of high quality balsamic vinegar.

Caprese kebabs are a staple for weddings and events across the United States. Why? They are simple, everyone loves them and they are pretty on a plate. So, of course, we had to include them here.

Here's how we did it:

(1) a mozzarella pearl, (1) a cherry tomato and a small basil leaf. We recommend folding the basilisk on itself and placing it between the cheese and the tomato.

Serve them with a small bowl of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Fanciful Tidbits

If you've ever tasted a smoked salmon blini, that's it, except easier. Instead of making a small pancake for each entree, we simply layer fresh cream and smoked salmon on a potato chip.

We know we did not say tokens, but we think it's far from the traditional idea of ​​tokens and dipping. We have not yet participated in a party where it has not worked well, so we challenge you to try it.

Here's how we did it:

For each potato chip, we added a teaspoon of fresh cream and a small piece of smoked salmon. For bonus points, garnish each piece with a little fresh dill.

Prosciutto Wrapped Melon

If you like fine hors-d'oeuvre, you probably know this one, but we included it because it's always a hit. The trick to make this unforgettable is to use a perfectly ripe cantaloupe or honeydew in season. If the melon is out of season, consider wrapping dates stuffed with goat cheese or fresh figs.

How we did it:

Create fruit spheres with a melon spoon or cut the melon into wedges. Wrap the melon pieces with the prosciutto, fix them with a toothpick if necessary and decorate them with mint if desired. Serve cold.
