It’s been a long time since Google has presented its “.new” domain shortcuts, which allow you to quickly open new documents or slideshows by typing docs.new, slides.new and sheets.new in your address bar. Now anyone can make a Google Meet call with the convenient meet.new shortcut.
The meet.new shortcut takes you directly to the “Meeting Ready” screen, where you can quickly organize a call or join a scheduled meeting. If you have multiple Gmail accounts, the meet.new shortcut will take you to your “main” account. You can choose another account by by adding the meet.new link with a / 1 or a / 2 (this tip can get complicated if you have a shipment of Google accounts).
Google rarely talks about its “.new” domain shortcuts, but they are worth remembering (or bookmarking). If you’re interested, Google has a fairly comprehensive list of “.new” shortcuts on his blog. Some great features, like cal.new for Google Calendar and link.new for Bitly, could help streamline your workflow.
