Sometimes it seems like you never have enough free disk space. Each app that you install takes up valuable space on your main drive, and you could possibly miss it. Here’s how to check how much you have left.
Open the file explorer. To do this quickly, press Windows + E. Or click on the folder icon in your taskbar if File Explorer is pinned to it. You will also find File Explorer in your Start menu.
Click on “This PC” in the left column.
Under “Devices and Drives”, you will see your main system volume (C 🙂 and all other drives on the computer. Windows displays the amount of disk space available on the drive directly under the drive name.
In general, Windows needs at least a few gigabytes of free storage space to function optimally. For example, use it to cache important programs and virtual memory on disk, which speeds up the operation of Windows.
If you are running out of space, consider freeing up storage space by uninstall programs you no longer use. In addition, Windows 10 includes a handy “Free Up Space” tool that helps you clean your hard drive.
