The Adobe PDF standard is convenient when you need to distribute information and make sure that it is viewed in the same way by all recipients. But PDF files are also terribly difficult to edit.
Unless you have paid for Adobe Acrobat (the full version, not just the Reader), you will need to look for a specific tool to edit the text of the PDF files. Many of them are available on different platforms, but for a simple and free method that works on all types of workstations and mobile devices, you can use Google Docs.
If you have your PDF file ready, open drive.google.com in any browser and sign in with your Google Account. It is possible to go through this process on mobile with a phone browser, as long as you do it in "desktop mode", but it will be a bit difficult – access a full laptop or a desktop computer if you can.
Download your PDF file from your local files by clicking the blue "NEW" button on the left, then "Downloading file." Select your PDF file and wait for it to be uploaded to the Google server.
Once the file is in your drive, right-click or hold down the item in the main Drive view. Select "Open Open With" and then click "Google Docs". The PDF document opens in a new browser tab in the Google Docs interface
From there, you can edit any text in the PDF document as if it were a standard word processor file. some of the formatting may be a bit offset through the interpretation of images by Docs and the spacing of the PDF file, but all formatted text must be visible and editable If it's a larger file, Docs will even create a separate auto outline in pages.
You can edit any text in this window and save your work online in Google Docs for later. If you prefer to have a standard document file for an offline word processor, click "File" and then "Download As". You can choose between Docx, ODT, TXT, RTF, and other formats to open Microsoft Office (or your preferred word processor).
Click the one you want, and it will be immediately downloaded to your default desktop or phone book. That's all! You now have a saved and editable copy of your original PDF, compatible with any word processor.
