How to Create Contact Groups on Your Mac

With contact groups, you will never have to manually add the same people to an email again and again. By grouping regularly used contacts, you will save tons of time in the future. Here's how to do it on a Mac.

Create a new contact group

Open the Contacts app on your Mac. You can find it in your "Applications" folder or search for it with Spotlight.

Make sure you select the account (in the left sidebar) where you want to create the group, and then click the "+" button. Then click on the "New group" button.

Type a name for the new group and press the Back key.

You can now add contacts to your new group.

Adding contacts to a group

Find the contact you want to add to a group: Scroll through the contacts list or use the search bar. Drag the contact to the group where you want to add it.

Repeat this procedure for all the contacts you want to add to the group.

Delete contacts from a group

Click the group in which you want to delete a contact, select it, and press the Backspace key. Click on "Delete from group" to confirm the action.

Rename an existing group

You can rename a group after you have created it. Select it then click on the "Edit" menu in the taskbar. Choose "Rename Group" and enter the new name.

Press the Back key to save your changes.

Deleting a group

You can delete a contact group if you no longer need it. No contacts will be deleted during this action.

Select the group you want to delete and press the Backspace key. Click on "Delete" to confirm.

Any changes you make on your Mac will also be taken into account. sync with your other devices if you have them configured to do it.

Sending email to members of a contact group

You can send an email to all members of a group of contacts directly from the Contacts application.

Right-click the group that you want to e-mail, and then click "Send E-mail To."

A new email will be created with the group as the recipient.

You can also compose a new e-mail message in the Mail application and enter the name of the group in the Recipient field. press the Back key to add it. Right-click the group name, and then click "Expand Group" to confirm the group members.

Send the email normally after composing your message.
