Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, is not for everyone. If you don’t find Siri useful, or if you continue to accidentally call Siri using the side button or the phrase “Hey Siri”, here’s how to permanently deactivate Siri on your iPhone or iPad.

How to deactivate Siri on iPhone and iPad

Disabling Siri can be accomplished in a few steps. First, open the “Settings” application on your iPhone or iPad, then select the “Siri & Search” option.

Press Siri and search in the settings

Here, tap the toggle next to the following options to turn off each item:

Listen to “Hey Siri”
Press the side button for Siri
Allow Siri when locked (if you only want to disable Siri on the lock screen)

Press the rocker to deactivate Siri

When you deactivate the first two options, a pop-up window asks if you really want to deactivate Siri. Here, press the “Disable Siri” button.

Tap Turn off Siri option

Siri is now disabled on your iPhone and iPad.

How to turn off Siri suggestions on iPhone and iPad

While Siri started out as voice assistant for the iPhone and iPad, its role has grown considerably in recent years. Siri is now used as a general term for all smart suggestion features.

From suggestions of looking apps to smart notifications on the lock screen (which can be pretty annoying), everything is handled by Siri behind the scenes. Don’t worry, you can also turn them off to the right of the Siri & Search section of the Settings app.

Once in the menu, swipe down until you see the “Siri Suggestions” section, then press the toggle buttons next to “Search suggestions”, “Search suggestions” and ” Suggestions on the lock screen “to deactivate each item.

Tap the toggle to turn off Siri suggestions

Now that you’ve disabled Siri on your iPhone or iPad, the next step is to delete your Siri’s story.
