Microsoft has deployed a dark mode to its Office applications since more than a year. This change has been available in Outlook for desktops and the Web for several months. It is now available on Android, iPhone and iPad. Here's how to activate the theme.
The instructions for enabling Outlook Dark Mode are the same for all mobile devices. If you do not see an option for the theme, check for an update of the app. Dark mode should be available on Android 4.0.4 (345) and above. Owners of iPhone and iPad must have Outlook version 4.2.0 installed or newer.
Start by launching the Outlook application on your Android, iPhone or iPad. Then press the gear icon in the lower left corner of the interface.
In the Settings menu, go to the "Preferences" section and select the "Theme" option.
Change the theme option from "Clear" to "Dark".
As soon as you select "Dark", the Outlook application will reverse the white background to black and the black text to white.
Otherwise, a third option called "Set by Battery Saver" is automatically enabled when your mobile device enters Battery Saver mode. Dark mode It will not necessarily increase the life of your batterybut it does not hurt.
Note: For people with accessibility needs, the dark mode is not optimized for high contrast modes. Some things, such as images and highlighted text, are not converted and are therefore not very beautiful.
In addition, at the time of writing, the body of the message remains blank when you edit a draft. Microsoft is working to add dark mode to the editor, but the theme may be a little implemented completely.
