Steam shares your default game activity. If you play Hello Kitty: Island Adventure or Bad ratsyou may want to keep your gameplay secret. Here's how to hide your Steam activity from your friends.
Hide played games from your Steam profile
Your Steam profile page normally lists all the games you've played and shows how many hours you've played in each one, focusing on what you've played in the last two weeks.
Steam profiles were public by default, but Valve made them private by default. Yet you may have made public the fact of working with a third-party service that reads information from your Steam profile, as IsThereAnyDealwho analyzes your wish list for games and lets you know if they are on sale in other gaming stores.
To access your profile in Steam, hover your mouse over your username in the top bar, then click on "Profile."
Click the "Edit Profile" button on the right side of the page to edit your profile.
Click "My privacy settings" on the right side of your page to find the privacy options of the Steam profile.
Adjust the privacy settings here to control what people can see. To hide the game, you have two options.
To hide the game information, set "Game Details" to "Private". Even your friends will not be able to see the games you play, the games you own, or the ones you have listed. They can always see your list of friends, your inventory, your comments and other information, depending on the options you have selected on this page.
You can also just hide everything in set the option "My Profile" on Private. If you do, no one can see your entire profile page. You can also select "Friends Only" and only your Steam friends will be able to see your profile.
Hide Steam cat's game activity
If you're only embarrassed by the game you're currently playing, maybe you do not care that it's listed on your profile page, but you do not want all your friends to be notified that you've started to play the game or see that you play in their friends list – you can disconnect or become invisible on the Steam cat.
To do this, click on the option "Friends and Chat" in steam, click on your user name, then select "Offline" or "Invisible". Your friends will not be able to see what you are currently playing, although this information still appears on your profile page.
Note that setting "Game Details" to Private will prevent your friends from seeing the games you play, even if you are online on the Steam Chat.
Hide or delete games from your Steam library
If you want to hide a game from the Steam library on your PC, you can set it to "Hidden" or remove it from your Steam library.
Those with access to game details on your profile will still be able to see all the achievements and play times you have in this game. However, anyone with access to your PC will not see the game in your normal Steam library.
With Steam now offering adult games only and other unsafe elements at work (NSFW), the ability to hide games you play is only more important. But it's useful even if you've played other games, like Bad ratsthat you do not want anyone to know.
