We have already said, and we will repeat it: Bixby is bad. It's better to use Google Assistant every day of the week. The good news is that it is now possible to remap the useless Bixby button. without using a third-party application.
You do not need Stinkin 'Bixby
Bixby is a useless addition to Galaxy Phones, and you'd be hard pressed to name everything Bixby can do. Google Assistant can not do better. Disabling Bixby is usually at the top of our list of how to improve a new Samsung phone.
Unfortunately, until recently, you could not do much about the Bixby button on which Samsung insists that phones such as the Galaxy S8, S9, S10, Note 8 and Note 9 are hit. switch offbut then you would be left with an equally useless button that does nothing. The good news is that with the new updates, you can now remap the Bixby button. without having to resort to other applications. The bad news is that you can not turn it off completely. But there is a second best option. Here is what to do.
Note: It is currently not possible to remap the Bixby button to call the Google Assistant (or any other digital assistant). Just another application.
Remapping the Bixby button
The first thing to do is to open the Bixy application. Go ahead, press the Bixby button to launch it. Once the application opens (and you go through all the necessary settings), tap the three vertical dots in the center right of the screen.
Tap the "Settings" option.
First, you need to make sure that the Bixby application is up to date, otherwise you will not get the remapping option. Scroll down and choose "About Bixby".
Bixby must be at least version 2.1.04.18 for this to work. If you do not have one, press the update button.
After the update, press the three vertical dots and press "Settings" again. Scroll down and find "Bixby Key". Click on it.
You can not completely disable Bixy, which is terrible. The best thing to do is to choose the option "Double tap to open Bixby", it is unlikely that you double-tap by accident.
Under the option "double press", activate the option "use only one", it will allow you to remap the simple pressure on another application.
On the next screen, you can choose "Open Application" or "Run Quick Order". For the unique press to be configured as Google Assistant, choose Open application.
Then scroll down to the app you want to use and tap on it – in this case, the Google app.
And now, your Bixby button is more useful. It's not perfect, and it would be great if you could completely disable Bixby. But at least you are less likely to accidentally trigger it. And if you do not want the button to do anything, you can get close to it – just make sure that Bixby double-presses and does not affect the one-touch option.
