When you set up your AirPods in the fresh state, they are assigned a default name based on the name of the device with which you originally associated them. Most of the time, that's fine. But if you want to create a bit of creativity, here's how to change the name of your AirPods to something new.
As with the iPhone, iPad and Mac, Apple allows users to name their AirPods as they see fit. This means that you can choose something in mind, but if you live in a household with multiple pairs of AirPods, give them big names can be a way to identify those who belong to you and those who who are not.
To get started, make sure your AirPods are connected to your iPhone or iPad, and then open the Settings app before you tap "Bluetooth."
Tap the "I" icon next to the entrance of your AirPods. If you have a lot of Bluetooth devices, you may need to scroll down to find the entry you are looking for.
Then press "Name" to move to the next screen.
You can now enter the new name you want to assign to your AirPods. Tap the cross next to the existing name to remove it, and then type the new name you want to assign to your AirPods. Once done, press the back arrow to save the changes.
That's all we can say about it. From now on, every time you connect your AirPods to a device, this is the name that will be used. The name is not specific to the device either, so you will not need to change it again when you connect to another device, such as a Mac.
