When you launch Steam, it normally displays a pop-up window with advertisements for updates to games you own and new games. Here’s how to turn off these pop-up ads.
This feature is located in the Steam Settings menu, which you can access by clicking on “Steam” in the upper left corner and selecting “Settings”.
If you’re on a Mac, you can also use a keyboard shortcut to open the Steam Preferences menu. Press Cmd +, to launch it.
Once you are in the Settings or Preferences window, click on the “Interface” tab on the left side of the window.
Uncheck the box “Notify me of additions or changes to my games, new versions and future versions” to deactivate the announcements.
When you have changed this setting as desired, click “OK” to confirm your changes. If you ever want to start seeing these ads again, you can simply return to this menu and reactivate the setting.
Steam pop-ups make it easy to keep an eye out for updates or new versions that might interest you. However, you can turn off this annoying pop-up and find interesting titles instead customize your Steam search settings.
