If you’re a YouTube fan, you may enjoy the new channel recommendations or the strange notification when your favorite YouTuber publishes a new video. If you prefer to disable these notifications, you can do so on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
How to turn off YouTube notifications on iPhone and iPad
If it is possible to disable notifications on an iPhone or iPad, YouTube allows you to be much more selective. In the YouTube app, you can turn on notifications you want to see and turn off ones you don’t see.
To get started, open the YouTube app, then tap the account icon in the upper right corner to open the YouTube Account menu.
In the Account menu, press “Settings”.
In the Settings menu, press “Notifications” to display a list of YouTube notifications available for iPhone and iPad.
Tap the slider next to each notification to turn it on or off. Notifications with blue cursors are enabled, while notifications with gray cursors are disabled.
If you want to limit your notifications to appear only once a day, press the slider to activate the “Scheduled Digest” option at the top of the list. You will need to tap on the option name to set a notification time.
Once these changes have been made, the settings will apply automatically. Tap the back arrow to return to YouTube.
How to turn off YouTube notifications on Android
Like its iPhone and iPad counterpart, the YouTube app for Android alerts you when the channels you follow post new videos. It also alerts you to video recommendations, any responses to YouTube comments you’ve made, and more.
You can deactivate the notifications for YouTube entirely in the Settings menu of your Android device, but it will likely hide all your notifications.
If you prefer to limit or disable certain YouTube notifications, while leaving others enabled, open the YouTube app. From here, tap the account icon at the top right to access the YouTube menu.
Scroll down and tap “Settings”.
In the “Settings” menu, scroll down and tap “Notifications” to access the YouTube notification settings.
You will see a list of YouTube notifications in the “Notifications” menu. Tap the slider next to each notification to enable or disable this option.
If you prefer to have your notifications only appear at a certain time each day, tap the slider next to “Scheduled Digestion” to turn it on.
The summary of notifications appears at a default time (such as 7 p.m.). Tap this setting to change the time you want the summary to appear.
The other notification options are predefined, so you can only activate or deactivate them. Tap the slider next to one of them to turn them on or off.
If you want to disable all of these items, make sure the sliders are in the off / gray position, rather than the on / blue position.
Any changes you make to your mobile notifications are applied automatically.
