Google’s video website wouldn’t be complete without all sorts of useful buttons and hidden controls that aren’t immediately obvious. Use this shortcut sheet to quickly navigate YouTube and get better control over your video browsing experience.
YouTube’s built-in keyboard shortcuts work for all operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS. Unfortunately, they are not customizable.
Rewind 10 seconds: J
Fast forward 10 seconds: L
Play pause: K (or Space, unless a button is highlighted)
Go to the following image (paused): ,
Go to the previous image (paused): .
Go to start: Home or 0
Go to end: End
Go to 10-90%: 1-9
Sound on / off: M
Increase the volume (in full screen mode or if the video is in focus)): Up
Lower volume (in full screen mode or if video is in focus): Down

Slow down the read rate: <
Navigating the interface
Activate the highlighted button: Space
Move between the H1 headers: Shift + 1
Go to the YouTube search bar: /
Go to the previous video in the playlist: Shift + P
Go to the next video in the playlist: Shift + N
Switch to full screen: F (Esc also exits full screen mode)
Activate / deactivate subtitles and subtitles: VS

Many modern keyboards come with multimedia buttons to rewind, fast forward and pause your content. YouTube is designed to work with all of these multimedia keys, but your mileage may vary depending on the browser, operating system, and keyboard you use.
