Most of us are working from home now thanks to the ongoing global pandemic. For many, that means they no longer need to dress or apply makeup for the office five days a week. That is, until you need to make a video call. To help you, the L’Oréal cosmetics brand announces Signature Faces, a fully digital product that will enhance your appearance in your next Zoom or Google video call in the blink of an eye.

With the new augmented reality feature, you will be able to “apply” up to three “themes” which include ten products each. According to the company, the filters “will break the boundaries of classic makeup to sign your digital look with confidence and daring” and “achieve the impossible with one click.” Hope this looks good too, because that’s a lot of marketing talk. Each theme offers a selection of eye shadows, lashes, lipsticks, and cheek tones.

Virtual cosmetics is an interesting idea, especially now that most of us don’t go out or head to a physical office. It’s not at all surprising that cosmetic brands are considering digitizing their products, as it seems likely that the industry has been hit by the pandemic. And digital makeup has an advantage over real objects – it’s much easier to remove. Just press the stop button.

However, this is not the company’s first attempt at virtual products. In partnership with Facebook, L’Oreal allowed users to virtually try on makeup from the comfort of their own homes. This is thanks to its acquisition of the AI business ModiFace a few years ago.

Signature Faces is compatible with Snapchat, Instagram, Google Duo, Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, Houseparty, etc.
