In addition to OnePlus 8T, OnePlus today announced a new set of true wireless headphones. the OnePlus Buds Z promises deep bass, 20 hours of playtime with its case, and fast charging all in one $ 50 package. It’s a lot for little money.
At $ 50, the OnePlus Buds Z wireless earbuds come aggressively priced, especially compared to other entries like the $ 150 AirPods. But OnePlus promises that you’ll still get plenty of features despite the low price.
The company added 10mm speakers as well as “bass boost technology for thrilling sound”, virtualized 3D sound, Bluetooth 5.0 and an IP55 rating for sweat resistance. Despite this IP55 classification, however, the warranty does not cover water damage.
Unlike the original genuine OnePlus Buds wireless earbuds, this new set uses standard silicone tips and comes in multiple sizes in the box. You also get a charging case, of course, which should give you around 20 hours of playtime. And OnePlus says you can charge the headphones for just 10 minutes to get 3 hours of audio playback.
Along with Bluetooth 5.0, you also get Google’s Fast Pair system for easy pairing and the Google Assistant built into the headphones. OnePlus has also created a ‘quick-switch’ system that will let you switch back and forth between the two most recently connected devices. This all looks great on paper, but we’ll have to stick to our ears to be sure.
The OnePlus Buds Z headphones will be available in white for $ 50 and in a “Steven Harrington Special Edition Colorway.” OnePlus has yet to share pricing for the Special Edition bundle. You can’t purchase the headphones until November 4, but you can sign up and receive a notification as soon as the company releases them at OnePlus Site.
