When you find something that interests you, it’s a good experience. When you learn something you love from a professional it becomes a great experience. With Master class, you can learn about a variety of topics from over 85 celebrity experts.
Welcome to Quick Tips, a series in which we provide tips and tricks that may not be new, but which may be overlooked or not well known.
The advantage of MasterClass is that on-demand access to experts is now available to everyone for only $ 15 per month. You no longer need to join an elite school or program, or rely on your connections (or just luck) just for the chance to hear what the experts have to say about working in their field, their process or advice. It’s an essential way to reconnect with learning and immerse yourself in topics that have always interested you, especially if you enjoy educational things like TED Discussions—And a great way to continue your education as an adult.
MasterClass has an impressive roster of over 85 instructors including Gordon Ramsay, Hanz Zimmer, Ron Howard, Misty Copeland, Nail Gaiman, Shonda Rhimes, Stephen Curry, Tony Hawk, Garry Kasparov, Paul Krugman, Anna Wintour, Frank Gehry, and Neil deGrasse Tyson. Classes cover topics such as photography, violin, interior design, game theory, poker, poetry reading, economics, negotiation, electronic music production, and more.
It’s safe to say that MasterClass has something for everyone. The monthly subscription gives you access to all lessons, as well as PDF workbooks, audio-only lessons, and the ability to download course videos and watch them offline. New standard and live lessons are added regularly, and you can also take advantage of the fact that MasterClass has a grant program that gives All-Access Passes to accredited charities.
Click on a class to go to a page where you can watch a class trailer and sample lesson video. MasterClass clearly didn’t spare a dime when it comes to filming, and the extremely high production value (which includes relevant sets and even background music), makes it easy to see and hear your instructor at all times. Individual videos are usually grouped into themed sections and are 10 to 25 minutes long, give or take. These shorter videos make them easier to digest and fit into your schedule.
On this same page, you can also view a brief overview of the class. You will be able to see the title of each section of the course, a brief introduction to it, and watch each corresponding video within a section, along with short descriptions for each. The careful design and curation of the course curriculum shows how well thought out, yet beginner friendly it is.
As you progress through a course, you will also be able to join the community for that course. Here you can discuss the concepts taught in the course with other students, discuss the questions together, and get feedback on your course work.
MasterClass is available online, so you can access it on any computer, or you can find it as iOS app, a Android app, or in the Roku Channel Store. The company previously offered the option to purchase a single course, rather than the full access subscription, but now appears to be sticking only to the $ 15 per month subscription plan.
Although the selection of MasterClass courses is more limited than that of other online learning sites, like Coursera or Sharing skills, it’s hard to argue with his A-list talent and high production value. Frantic service is an easy way to learn something new and expand your mind, while seeing how the professionals approach their craft.
