Today, Ecovacs unveiled its latest $ 800 cleaning robot. Although it looks like an ordinary robot vacuum cleaner, it doubles as a mop and contains a lot of intelligence. He can avoid slippers, cables and other obstacles, then let you know where the objects are so that you can move them. And it can clean and vacuum at the same time.
The Deebot Ozmo T8 Aivi (long enough name, right?) Incorporates a multitude of sensors. The front of the robot sports a camera, while the top houses lasers. Using these sensors, it can map your home and spot objects in its path. The Deebot then shows you the objects it has encountered on a virtual map of your house so that you can move them.
The camera is however only a sensor; you can open a live feed from the camera view while the robot cleans your home. You can create virtual limits and Deebot will recommend limits when mapping your home.
The Deebot houses a 240 ml water tank, which Ecovacs says should be large enough for 100 minutes of cleaning. With most robot mops (and mops in general), you should sweep the area before you pass the mop. But the Deebot Ozmo T8 can vacuum and mop simultaneously, which the company says is a first for robotic vacuum cleaners. The robot is also smart enough not to move on your carpet during cleaning.
You can buy the Deebot Ozmo T8 Aivi now at Ecovac site, and at retailers later this year.
