Nickelodeon fans Avatar series rejoice! Netflix announced today that The Legend of Korra comes to the streaming service. You will be able to watch the show from August 14 in the United States.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a almost perfect series that everyone should watch. It’s already on Netflix, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, this is the first thing to do after reading this article. But one of the tenets of the series’ mythology is that the avatar eventually disappears and is reborn as the other person.
The Legend of Korra explore this facet. It takes place 70 years after the events of the original series. Sadly, Aang passed away and the avatar cycle began again. Korra (voiced by Janet Varney), a water bender, is the new avatar, and when the series begins, she is proficient in water, earth, and firebending.

The show has its fans and detractors. While Last airbender mainly featured children under the age of 16, Legend of Korra focuses on people in their late teens and adulthood. Last airbender has lots of laughs and frankly filled episodes. Korra is more serious and narrowly scripted.
It’s a change of tone that not everyone liked. But the heart is still there, and the artwork is beautiful, the music fantastic. Korra doesn’t do this in every battle, but she dramatically changes the world and leads like an avatar. She’s the avatar who shoots first bends over and asks questions later, but that often means she’s doing a lot, if not with a few explosions along the way.
If you wanted to watch Legend of Korra, you had to subscribe to CBS All Access. But Netflix took over Last airbender already and working on a live-action version of this show. Add Legend of Korra feels like a natural fit. You will be able to broadcast the show from August 14.
