We tried to bring together the best TV Streaming Value Guide and Failure. But what if the best value is actually something free? Good news, for the past few months, Sling has been offering free news, movies and shows. Best of all, you don’t need to open an account or provide a credit card.

Sling calls the service Sling Free, and while it doesn’t offer the same channels and selection as a paid subscription, it’s still a decent-sized set of options. Service is not new, but now is a good time to review it.

Update, 3/20: Since the publication of this article, Sling TV has announced new agreements with Fox News and Cheddar News to temporarily add these channels to the free service. In addition, Nat Geo WILD, Game Show Network and many others add free samples. You still don’t need an account or credit card to take advantage of these channels.

The original report is left intact below.

If your local school district has closed and your kids are at home right now, Sling Free gives you more options on what your kids can watch. A quick navigation on the Sling website revealed Justice League Action, Teen Titans Go, Bob the builder, and more all available for free. Adults are also covered in movies, shows and even ABC Live TV News.

You’ll also see paid content that’s also locked, which will likely prompt some people to sign up for the service. But what’s free and what’s not is clearly stated, and you don’t need to sign up for an account or provide a credit card. This means you won’t have to worry about accidental charges.

You can access Sling Free from your browser by accessing Sling site and looking for free content. Alternatively, you can load Sling on your Smart TV or Android device and browse the free content there. The company says the iOS and tvOS Sling apps will soon be updated to offer the new service.
