Three words: Super Nintendo World. This is the name of the new theme park that Nintendo created in partnership with Universal Studios. Japan’s first park is now almost complete and Nintendo is ready to show it today (December 18) live at 6 p.m. EST. Hopefully, it’s not a 16-bit stream.

Usually Nintendo Direct events feature upcoming games, but that won’t be the case today. Instead, the 15 minute video will give you an up-close look at the theme park. We’ll probably see more details on Super mario kart tower, Bowser’s castle, and maybe even Yoshi’s tower.

The first Super Nintendo World will open in Japan in February 2021, but we’ll end up seeing theme parks similar to Universal Studios in Florida and California. Nintendo says they won’t be the same, but the main themes should be there. It will be a long wait, but with the current global pandemic, that wait also seems important.

The design of the first park feels like it’s in a Super Nintendo game, with the hills often seen in Super Mario games and bright colors everywhere. So far we’ve seen a few photos, but that leaves a lot of unexplored corners and unperforated bricks. Squint your eyes and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a level in Super Mario World. Just try to avoid the lava.

If you want to know what a Nintendo theme park looks like, don’t miss today’s live stream.
