Connecting a Samsung Galaxy smartwatch to a new phone can be a bit boring. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as just pushing a “connect” button. We’ll show you how to make the process as painless as possible.
The process begins on your Samsung Galaxy Watch itself. First, tap the “power button” to open the app gallery, then tap the “Settings” app (represented by a gear icon) from the list.
Scroll to the bottom of the “Settings” menu and tap “Connect to new phone”.
The next screen will ask you to save your data. We strongly recommend that you do this to make the transition as smooth as possible. Press “Save data”.
This will launch the Galaxy Wearable app on your old phone and open the backup settings. Select “Save data”.
When the “Preparation” is complete, you will see a list of items you can back up. Select all the categories you want to save and then press “Save.”
Press “Done” when the operation is complete. Now go back to your watch and go to the “Connect to new phone” screen again. This time press “Continue”. Everything on the device will be deleted.
Once the reset is complete, the watch will restart. We can now switch to your new smartphone. Open the Galaxy wearable app and select your device from the list.
It will search for your smartwatch nearby. Select your watch from the list when it appears.
Next, tap the screen to connect to your watch, then tap “Pair” from the Wearable app.
You will see an “End of association” animation in the Wearable application. It will say “Watch Paired” when completed. Press “I agree” to continue.
The next step is to link the appropriate plugin for your specific watch. Press “OK” on the pop-up message to continue.
Select one of the options displayed on this screen or press “Skip”. If you have made selections, press “Next”.
You will be prompted to sign in to your Samsung account. You need to do this to access the backup we made earlier. Press “Login”.
Follow the steps to enter your username and password.
The app will now ask you if you want to restore from a backup. Select “Verify backup”, then press “Next”.
Select all the things you want to restore and hit the “Restore” button.
That’s it! Your watch will now be restored to the state it was with your old phone. There may be some difficulty to fix, but the majority of things will depend on how you left them.
